Ittybittybungalow Does Fall

19 Sep

The air is getting cooler out and it was time to remove the overgrown plantings from the window boxes so I swapped them out for these mums. I got a great deal on them (98 cents each) and was able to replant all my window boxes for 12.00. I got a cheap wreath for the door and things are looking much more fall like around here.

In other news… I was able to repair the giant hole in the ceiling and replace the light fixture with a exhaust fan/light combination. This was an exercise in patience. Once I had figured out how to rewire the fan into the old wiring in my house and reconnect the outlet which was tied into it, I had to repair the plaster. Day by by day, a layer at a time. Finally, a week into the job, also known as late Sunday night I finished the plastering, sanding and repainting!

This is what it looked like before:

That is amazing! I’m so glad you were able to get the fan/light wired in and the hole fixed. Not an easy task. I like your choice of fan/light too. It doesn’t look like a fan. We’ve got to do a similar thing in our baths as well sometime in the future. The fall touches look great too. I love finding great deals on flowers. If you’re lucky, those mums will winter over and you won’t have to replant next year.

Wait – nevermind the comment about wintering over the mums. They’re in window boxes.

Beautiful cat, beautiful house. I particularly like the wreath.

How does that fan work? Does it exhaust straight into the attic? Into a vent?

p.s. One of my cousins has cobbled together teaching classes at several local schools. I know it’s not as good as having a more conventional teaching job, but he really enjoys the classes. I think we had a kind of golden age for employment from about the 1950s to 1990-2000. I hope we can get back to that again, but I don’t think it’s going to happen with most of the current politicians in office.

The fan has an exhaust pipe that sends the moist air right outside… although I have not hooked it up yet, so for now its going into my attic!

Those mums look fantastic. I may have to stop by our nursery today to see if they have any! It’s still in the 90s here but we are quite ready for fall.
